    Activity Calorie Counter

    This site will calculate the number of calories burned for 222 activities.  Fill in your
    weight and the average amount of time you spend doing an activity and the site will
    do the math and return an activities page personalized for you. Print the activities page
    using the print function on your Web browser and keep it with your exercise log or tape
    it on the refrigerator for reference.  It's a great reminder of all the activities you can
    participate in and use for cross-training to stay active and healthy.

    Recycle It!!!

    Bicycles - Washington Area Bicyclist Association sponsors Bikes for the World, a project to collect unwanted
    bicycles and accessories and deliver them to programs assisting the poor around the world.  They have regularly
    scheduled collections in the greater DC area, check their website for details http://bikesfortheworld.org/

    Electronics - Many counties and cities have electronic recycling events during the year. In addition, some local
    companies provide recycling services to the general public.  One example is PC Recycler in Chantilly, VA.
    They will recycle almost all household electronic equipment, most at no cost to you, including:  computers and
    most computer accessories, stereos, VCR/DVD players, fax machines and copiers, empty ink/toner cartridges
    and battery backups.  Check their website http://www.fairfaxcounty.gov/dpwes/recycling/a-z-index.htm for the next
    residential electronics recycling event, usually the second Friday and Saturday of the month.


    Packing Materials - The Plastic Loose Fill Council has a "Peanut Hotline" you can call to find a location to drop-off
    polystyrene "packing peanuts" for reuse, 1800-828-2214.  Or use the search on their website to find a drop-off
    center http://www.loosefillpackaging.com/ .  Some UPS stores also recycle Styrofoam blocks.

    Worn Out Outdoor Clothing - Patagonia will recycle any of their brand of clothing.  Check out their Common
    Threads Garment Recycling Program at http://www.patagonia.com/web/us/patagonia.go?assetid=1956 . Your
    old threads will be used to make new ones, reducing use of virgin polyester (from petroleum) as well as landfill
